Emma has created a new Discovery Visit for English Heritage that will bring the dramatic
ruins of Whitby Abbey to life for schools.
She worked with staff at the site to design an
interactive ‘time traveller's trail’ using role play, real and replica objects and the
Abbey itself to help children understand the site's exciting and varied thousand-year history.
As well as designing the trail, creating resources and researching and commissioning replica objects, Emma also trained staff at the site to lead the visit with schools. Teachers are now able to book this new addition to the Abbey's learning programme for key stages 1 to 3.
Museums have the power to inspire and engage people in learning at
every stage of their lives. We can help you discover creative ways of using your collections and knowledge to
create exciting new opportunities for everyone to get involved in learning.
