Melton Carnegie Museum

We're delighted to have been commissioned by Melton Carnegie Museum in Leicestershire to deliver the evaluation of their HLF-funded project which was completed in December 2009. The project involved building an extension to house two new learning and community spaces, creating a new gallery about changing rural life and creating new learning and volunteering programmes.  The museum manager wanted an evaluation that would assess how well the service had met the objectives of the HLF project and help them plan for the future at a time of increasing pressure on staffing and budgets.

Emma's evaluation work involved analysing existing data on the use of the museum since December 2009 as well as undertaking new research. We consulted with users and non-users including teachers, interviewed volunteers and stakeholders about the impact the project had on them, did a tracking survey, and conducted visitor exit interviews to find out what people thought of the new spaces. The final report was finished in September 2011. It will form part of the museum's final reporting to HLF and will also inform forward planning, marketing and the development of local partnerships.
