Partners from four countries attended the first Sharing European Memories project celebration event in the village of Anoeta near San Sebastian in northern Spain.
The project brings together organisations from Spain, Italy, Norway, Poland and the UK in an international, cross-generational exploration of the memory of European conflict. The Anoeta event was the first of six international celebrations and involved Spanish participants in an evening of film, theatre, dance and music that showcased the community's contribution to the project.
Anoeta is a village in the Basque country that was heavily involved in the Spanish Civil War, 1936 - 39. Emma and the project managers from the other partner countries took the opportunity to visit the nearby town of Gernika which was heavily bombed during the war.
Emma and colleagues are looking forward to welcoming our European partners to our end-of-project event at Leeds City Museum on 20 November.
