I'm really pleased to be back working with the brilliant team at Eureka! as Project Evaluator for the brand new Eureka! Science + Discovery development.
Eureka! Science + Discovery is a new visitor attraction in the Seacombe ferry terminal and Spaceport buildings in Wirral. Take a look at the launch video here. It brings together Eureka!'s playful, child-centred approach to learning with 21st-century science and discovery centre innovation. The content was co-created with local children and young people who worked with professional designers, architects and scientists to create spaces where children and young people aged 8-14 can find out about science and innovation in fun, experience-driven ways. I took my nine-year-old to a preview when the attraction opened and couldn't get her back out again!
I worked with the team during the development stage to evaluate the impact of the co-production process for the young people and industry partners, and later to prototype and test some of the new exhibits. Now the new centre is open I'm doing visitor research to find out to what extent it's meeting its objectives for learning, engagement and economic impact.
This is a really exciting project, especially for someone who can't resist a good interactive exhibit! I worked with Eureka! a few years ago to evaluate the All About Me gallery development in Halifax, and it's great to be working with them again.
